Cricket ACT has officially announced the Abode Hotels ACT Meteors squad for this weekend’s matches in Round 1 and 2 of the 2016-2017 Women’s National Cricket League.

13 players are headed to Perth where they will play the Western Fury on Friday, October 14, before playing the Victoria Spirit the following day.

Cricket ACT’s General Manager of High Performance, Aiden Blizzard, said the squad was very well-balanced and is in a great shape for a strong start to the tournament.

“The girls have been working hard during our offseason to get themselves ready for the season,” he said.

“Credit to the resilience of our group, they have worked very well together over during a really wet winter. I’m certain each one of them are itching to get out there and play some cricket at the WACA.”

Abode Hotels ACT Meteors captain Kris Britt said that the squad was eager to get the season underway.

“It’s exciting to know that our WNCL campaign is now only a couple of days away and we can finally get the season going. There’s been a lot of hard work from all of the players during our pre-season and we’ll see some really positive results from that when we get started on Friday.”

The squad includes four new faces for the Meteors in Jodie Fields, Nicola Hancock, Emily Leys, and 19-year-old Maitlan Brown, who is yet to make her WNCL debut.
