Cricket ACT have named the Abode Hotels ACT Meteors squad who will take on New South Wales and Queensland in their Round 5 and Round 6 clashes of the Women’s National Cricket League.

Fresh off the back of their victory against South Australia, the side are looking for two wins to place them in finals contention.

The team will remain relatively unchanged from previous rounds, with the addition of Sara McGlashan bringing tremendous experience to the squad.

Assistant Coach of the side, Luke Butterworth, is confident going into this weekend.

“We can take some real confidence out of our win against South Australia,” said Butterworth.

“We are in a position where we have to win both games and win well. This can be of benefit to our side as we’ll be forcing ourselves to play aggressive and fearless cricket.”

“It will also be great having a player of Sara’s ability and experience in our side for these matches. I have no doubt her place in the squad will only benefit the team.”

Captain Kris Britt is also excited to take on two of the League’s top sides on the eve of finals.

“This is a really exciting time for us to take on the two heavyweights, both New South Wales and Queensland,” Britt said.

“Obviously New South Wales especially has a huge chain of players coming through and younger girls that obviously haven’t been exposed to WNCL level, but again you don’t take them lightly.”
