Cricket ACT (CACT) is thrilled to announce that seven venues across the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) are set to receive significant upgrades courtesy of the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF). This initiative aims to enhance community cricket facilities, promote inclusivity, and foster greater participation.
"Cricket ACT is extremely grateful to be able to access the ACIF to further support our commitment to grassroots cricket," said Olivia Thornton, CACT CEO.
"By investing in modern, accessible and safe facilities, we empower players of all ages and backgrounds to thrive. Together, we’re building a stronger and more inclusive cricket community – one pitch at a time.”
One standout recipient of the ACIF funding is the Weston Creek Molonglo Cricket Club. The club received $40,000 to upgrade the seven-lane synthetic training facility at Stirling Oval. This investment will specifically support women’s and junior cricket, fostering growth and development within the club.
Other venues confirmed to receive funding include Deakin West Oval (Mint Oval), Kaleen District Playing Fields, Melba District Playing Fields, Taylor Oval, Weetangera Neighbourhood Oval and Nicholls Neighbourhood Oval

What is the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF)?
The ACIF is a vital resource that provides funding for community cricket facility projects. Its focus extends beyond mere infrastructure improvements—it aims to create welcoming environments that cater to all participants, from seasoned players to budding juniors. In the 2023/24 financial year, the ACIF allocated up to $5 million to support community facility projects, underscoring Cricket’s unwavering commitment to enhancing cricket infrastructure nationwide.

Quality and Consistency: The ACIF strives to improve the quality, innovation, and consistency of cricket infrastructure at all levels of community play. Whether it’s upgrading pitches, practice facilities, or pavilions, the fund aims for excellence.
Strategic Priorities: By supporting community cricket facilities, the ACIF directly contributes to Australian Cricket’s strategic goals. These priorities include attracting and retaining young participants aged 5 to 12 years.
Demand-Driven Development: The ACIF identifies areas of high participation and population growth, ensuring that cricket facilities meet local needs.
Inclusivity: Creating inclusive and accessible environments is paramount. The fund encourages projects that benefit both cricket participants and the broader community.
