Comet Hanno Jacobs Selected for PM's XI
Today, Cricket Australia announced the Prime Minister’s squad for the PMXI match up at Manuka Oval against India.
Cricket ACT is proud to announce our very own, Hanno Jacobs, has been selected as part of this squad.
“I was honestly a bit surprised.” Jacobs told the media this morning.
“I’m super excited. I got a call Tuesday morning and yeah, since then it’s been nerve-racking. But just another game of cricket.”
Jacobs was a key part of the Comets recent match against South Australia. Moving to Canberra to study at ANU, and playing a bit of Cricket for ANU, he was given the opportunity to play for the ACT and snatched it up fast.
“It’s been a great little progression in my cricketing career. I’ve really enjoyed the path, and it’s led me to other places now as well, so it’s been a really good journey.” he said.
Jacobs has been named alongside some well-recognised players such as Scott Boland and Matt Renshaw who are destined to show skill and experience within the squad, as well as some upcoming young stars such as himself and Sam Konstas who are hoping to impress selectors.
“All of those names are super exciting, and I would love to get stuck in with those boys for sure.”
Tim Paine was named coach of the side alongside Cricket ACTs very own Erin Osborne and Jason McNally. This will be a great experience for all three of our Cricket ACT members to gain insight and knowledge from a former Australian great.
“Any experience is a good experience.”
“I’m just gonna ask as many questions as I can you. Solidify stuff I already know, and try and learn these things about the game, and still try and play my own cricket. If I pick up something else along the way, that’ll be nice.” Jacobs stated.
The Prime Minister's XI 2024 match will take place on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1, at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The PM's XI will play against the Indian men's team in a two-day, day-night match and is set to be an awesome watch.
Be sure to cheer on Hanno Jacobs and the Aussie squad in this two-day, day-night match at Manuka Oval on November 30 and Sunday, December 1.
