“I think we've got a fantastic squad. We've got a real great mix of experienced players and young players” Meteors coach Erin Osborne stated.
“We've prepared really well for this Queensland outfit. We have been focusing on this next round of cricket fixing up little areas where we learned from SA in our round one game. I think everyone’s better for that run and has identified what they need to work on and have put in a really solid six weeks and I'm really confident that we're in a great position to be nice and competitive against this Queensland outfit” she added.
Experienced Meteors captain, Katie Mack, is returning to the Meteors after an awesome stint in the WBBL 2024 season. Katie was nominated as a finalist in the ‘WBBL Team of the Decade’ and is keen to bring her T20 expertise into the Meteors One-Day squad.
“T20 cricket teaches you a lot about a bit of freedom with batting and taking the game on, so I think I’m trying to bring that sort of mindset back to the girls who play a lot of one day cricket”
“I think we will be coming to these games really fresh. We have been training really well and we are shaping up really nicely with everyone staying healthy. I think it will be a really competitive game, but we’re ready to go” Katie told Cricket ACT.
The ACT Meteors will return to EPC Solar Park to play Queensland in their third and fourth match of the Women's National Cricket League 50-over competition this Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd of December.
“Canberra’s a great place. We thoroughly enjoy playing here at Phillip. We get great support here and this is our home. Any support we do get from our community is one that we really enjoy, so hopefully we can get lots down to fill up to watch us play on Friday and Sunday.” Osborne said.
