Local rivals to face off again in blockbuster T20 final

Tuggeranong Valley Cricket Club and Queanbeyan District Cricket Club are set to face off in the Men's First Grade Greg Chappell Cricket Centre T20 Blast Grand Final on Saturday, February 8, at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

This Grand Final rematch is set to be a highly anticipated match following a season of impressive performances from both teams.

“I think Queanbeyan are a very strong team, they've dominated this whole year I think we have just got to step up in the big moments with the ball and bat, just stay calm under pressure” Tuggeranong’s star batsman Akshay Joseph stated.

The previous encounter between these two clubs in the 2024 Greg Chappell Cricket Centre T20 Grand Final was a thrilling contest, with Tuggeranong narrowly defeating Queanbeyan by 4 runs.

“We’re looking to get one back on Tuggeranong after they did a job on us last year.” Queanbeyan’s Captain Mark Solway shared.

An exciting opportunity for both teams as the game will be held at Manuka Oval, a venue known for hosting high-quality cricket matches and offering a vibrant atmosphere for spectators.

“We always get very excited as soon as we're playing at Manuka, so it's awesome that we've been able to get it this year. Obviously, Queanbeyan’s got a few grades in the finals this year too, so with three grades there, hopefully we've got a bit of a blue army there that will support us.” Solway said.

Both Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan have been the teams to beat in the Men’s T20 competition for the last five years. But both teams are confident in their ability to get the job done this year.

“We’ve definitely got a good side and good mix of old heads and younger guys there but with a lot of talent as well so yeah we're confident for sure” Solway told Cricket ACT.

“We’re feeling very confident. The last two years we've won the T20 comp, so I think we're feeling very confident.” Joseph added.

Be sure to head to Manuka Oval tomorrow to see all the finals action!
