The Glenda Hall Shield T20 Grand Final for the 2024–2025 will take place on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Manuka Oval in Canberra. This annual competition honours Glenda Hall, a distinguished cricketer who represented Australia and a cricket icon here in the ACT.
Ginninderra and Eastlake are this year's Glenda Hall Shield finalists. Ginninderra Cricket Club has expressed enthusiasm about competing in the final, aiming to secure the title for the first time in the club's history.
“Monday night will be our 4th appearance for the Glenda Hall Shield in a grand final, and if we win, the first for the club. It would be nice to make a little bit of history.” Ginninderra Club Captain Gillian Gerry stated.
“We've beaten Eastlake before; we know we can do it again.” She added.
Eastlake Cricket Club, on the other hand, has a strong track record in the competition, having previously clinched the Glenda Hall Shield. Their experience and success in past seasons make them challenging opponents in the upcoming final.
“I think we are a team that other teams do like to beat.” Eastlake Captain Claire Murray told Cricket ACT.
“It would be great to get consecutive wins. Before we go out there, we are just gonna take a breath and just enjoy the moment together.” She continued.
The Women’s T20 finals is set to be played at the beautiful Manuka Oval. With the Men’s final being held at the oval just two days before, both teams are excited to take the field at Manuka to celebrate the growth of women’s cricket and pay tribute to Glenda Hall’s pioneering legacy.
“It's nice to know that we're playing at Manuka, especially off the back of the Australian women's team winning there a couple weeks ago. I suppose we will be looking to capitalise on hopefully their luck and go from there.” Gerry said.
“It's just getting a chance to play at a high-level ground. The atmosphere is just brilliant it's always a great opportunity to play at Manuka.” Murray said.
